How do I use this site?

To get started on comparing costs for procedures, please click on “Compare Costs” at the top of this page. Then do the following steps:

  1. On NM Healthcare Compare, only Medicaid data is presented. In the future, users will be able to select their specific insurance company to get a better estimate of what they will pay.

  2. Choose a medical procedure to see the state average cost and an estimate for a specific provider.

  3. Choose a county where you will have the medical service performed. (If your county is not listed for a certain procedure contact your health insurance company to see if providers in that county are available).

  4. Choose the provider that you will go to for your medical service.

  5. Confirm that a provider is covered by your plan by contacting your health insurance company before seeking care.

Once you have made all your selections, you will see the estimated cost of your chosen procedure at the facility or provider of your choosing. Included is a state average cost for the procedure as well as some quality measures for the specific facility (quality measures are only available for hospitals).
